Mission & Outreach Funding Sources for Outreach
PARISH-BASED OUTREACH GRANTS: The purpose of these grants is to encourage parishes to start new or expand existing outreach ministries that will become self-sustainable within three years. These grants are only for parish-based outreach and cannot be used for pass-through monies to other agencies or groups that do not directly involve parishes or parishioner. The Department hopes that these grants will enable parishes to engage in new and creative ways of being Christ’s presence in Alabama. The deadline for submitting these grants is May 1.

Does the thought of organizing ANOTHER silent auction keep you up at night? Make you feel nauseated, fatigued?
It should.
They have LOUSY return on investment. Do the math. Add up the hours required to finding and retrieving items, pricing, writing and framing descriptions, displaying, assembling auction book (while items are coming in), and disturbing the good time guests are having for bidding. Now add in the days you spent coordinating checkout and gaggle of volunteers. Don't forget to include the fact that a wonderful evening ends by requiring guests to stand in line.
Silent auctions are more work than you earn, and they put dampers on great evenings.
This year at your big event / gala - consider alternatives:

This year at your big event / gala - consider alternatives:
- hold a live raffle every 30 minutes
- have a marketplace of Haitian goods
- sign up guests to visit Haiti (spend more time telling folks about your work)
