Haiti

In 2006 the people of the Episcopal Church of Alabama and the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti began a journey together. It has become a journey of faith, a journey of hope, and a journey of love.

Our Companion Diocese Relationship Commission oversees the mission activities and the diocesan budget for the Companion Relationship. The primary focus of the relationship has been to support medical and construction needs for the parishes in Croix des Bouquets. A UTO grant, with the assistance of St. Alban's Church in Birmingham, helped to rebuild St. Alban's Church in Crochu which was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake. The most recent success has been the Midwife Training Program in Crochu which is training local women safe birthing procedures so that mothers and their babies have a greater possibility of survival.
