The Department of Recovery Ministries seeks to educate clergy and laity about the disease of addiction, provide resources for use in parishes, and practical guidance for people who are trying to make decisions, provide interventions and support for themselves and for their loves ones.

The Mission of the Department of Recovery Ministries is to educate clergy and laity about the disease of addiction and family dysfunction’s associated with it and to provide recovery and spiritual guidance for those recovering, including affected family members, with emphasis on the renewal of our faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Journey event with speaker Nic Sheff is Friday night, September 17. The End Addiction Now – Huntsville Walk is Saturday, the 18th. Both events are in Huntsville. Our diocesan-wide Recovery Sunday is September 19.

Relapse Prevention Plan: Recovering from drug addiction is a long journey that requires significant courage and life skills which will help people remain sober. It’s important for individuals and their loved ones in recovery to understand that part of recovery is a relapse prevention plan.
Partnership to End Addiction - Provides personalized support and resources for families impacted by addiction, while mobilizing policymakers, researchers and health care professionals to more effectively address addiction systemically on a national scale.

Unity Recovery + WEconnect + SOS Recovery + Alano Club are now offering free virtual recovery meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic
During this pandemic, we realize that many in-person meetings have been canceled or people may not be able to attend their regular meetings for various reasons. We are now offering online recovery support groups. All recovery meetings are non-denominational, agnostic to any specific recovery pathway, and are open to anyone.

From: Partnership to End Addition: Chris Herren, former professional basketball player, author and wellness advocate, has shared his story of recovery with over 1 million people nationwide. The First Day film chronicles this journey revealing Herren’s vulnerability and his profound connections with high school students who, in turn, have shared their stories of struggle and strength. Through the power of storytelling, The First Day addresses issues that school systems, communities and people across the country are impacted by, directly or indirectly, each day including substance use, other harmful behaviors and mental wellness. "Restoring Trust: One Mother and Son's Story," Barbara Brewster and Drew Callner, May 2, 2021. During the course of Drew’s addiction, the continuing trauma eroded all elements of trust for Barbara and shattered her maternal bond. Barbara and Drew will share their separate but parallel stories of pain and the journey toward redemption and restoration.
